Everyday Learning

If you want to increase something that has value, give it away!

That which is valuable in Spiritual and Reality terms is that which increases by sharing. Both love and ideas increase by sharing. Think about it. If you have an idea and you share it, all of the idea remains with you and it increases by giving it away. This is true because love and its expression, which is creativity or mind, are unlimited and eternal and, therefore, in endless supply.

If you want to have peace, you must offer it. If you want to maintain your guiltlessness, you must defend the innocence of others. And because you do need to be healed from, or “forgiven” for, the desire for separation or specialness, you must forgive others. You must also forgive all the manifestations of separation that you hold within your mind and project into the world, such as illness, loss, fear, guilt, terrorism and so on. When you no longer hold the desire for and belief in specialness and separation, the world will reflect that.

Perception is selection, and selection is driven by consciousness, the level of mind from which desires, values and ideals arise.

Perception is selection, we are taught in A Course in Miracles (ACIM). Perception began when we began to believe we could separate from God or Love. We are taught in ACIM that with the initial “splitting of the mind,” or “falling asleep to our identities” (which is also called “the detour into fear”), arose the perception of where knowledge is, but it was too obscured to be reached.

When we chose to pursue the idea of separation or “specialness,” we “divorced” a part of our mind from the awareness of its Source. From that one decision came the manifestation of the physical universe and the use of the mind on a body or lower level, which A Course in Miracles identifies as consciousness.

A Course in Miracles teaches us that perception is the substitute that the dreaming mind (which has become hostage to the ego) offers us as a replacement for knowledge. Knowledge, which is the actual state and expression of Spirit and God, is what we “fell asleep to” in order to have the experience of time and space, specialness and separation.

The dreaming mind is incapable of accessing knowledge until it remembers or awakens to its Source. When we choose to remember and have faith in our authentic Identity, and faith in the power of love and truth, right perception occurs and prepares the mind for full awakening, or knowledge.

A Course in Miracles teaches us that as long as we remain asleep to our Identity, perception and projection will remain. We will project outwardly anything within our minds that we feel is either “good” or “bad,” depending upon individual and collectively agreed-upon beliefs and values. That which we feel guilt over (knowingly or not), we will deny, disown and project onto the world and each other in an attempt to rid our minds of it.

We project, instead of face, the guilt that always comes from the belief that we separated from God. Of course, we did not separate from God, but we are “dreaming” we did.

Lastly, A Course in Miracles teaches the student that we are most prone to project outwardly our belief in fear, guilt and separation because on the deepest level we fear God; we think we have disobeyed or overruled His will and become something we are not.

So, having read this, what will you do now to begin again?

To begin to be aware and to take full personal responsibility for your thinking and for what your thinking is doing is the work!

To live and support the belief in a guiltless life for ourselves and one another, no matter what we or someone else appears to have done within the dream we share, that is the work of the ACIM student.

To see that we hold grievances and thoughts of attack within our minds that are reflected in the conflicts and wars in our life, in Africa and in the Middle East is the work of the Course in Miracles student.

To begin each day remembering who you really are and defending the unassailable innocence and brilliance of each person you meet in a day is the work of the ACIM student.

To forgive all forms of specialness and separation that are based upon our forgetting who we are and how we can do what it takes to live a miraculous life – that will change our experience of the world.
